Biografische Anmerkung

Processing of agricultural products such as sugarcane and maize leaves agricultural waste that is mainly discarded. Sugarcane bagasse is one such product. The growing demand for soft boards in the construction industry has posed a threat to forest cover since it is the largest source of raw material. The synthetic binders used are expensive and contribute to environmental degradation through UF and PF emissions. In this book, you will find both the process and main equipment of production designed and used. The main Mechanical and physical properties of sugarcane Bagasse and Euphorbia sap (B-E) boards produced were determined. The properties investigated are; The bending strength, The tensile strength, Thickness swelling and water absorption. When the results of the properties determined were compared with the corresponding values given by the Kenya Standard on fibre board specification (KS 2706-2:2017), the boards were found to be suitable for non-load bearing applications such as insulation and acoustics.

Mr. Moses Gichana Nyang`au is currently a Mechanical Engineering lecturer in The Technical University of Kenya. He holds a Bachelors degree and a Master of technology in Mechanical Engineering, whereas his Past industrial experience, research, creativity and the input of the co-authors make this work successful with demonstrable evidence.
