Focusing on the problem of the Prime Matter in the Philoponus' Contra Proclum (Book XI), this study offers the first translation, in French, extensively annoted and commented in the context of the 'quaestio disputata' of the Neoplatonic Alexandrian School (VIe s.).
Consacrée au problème de la Prima Materia dans le Contra Proclum, livre XI, de Jean Philopon, cette étude en propose la première traduction, en français, exhaustivement annotée et commentée dans le contexte de la question disputée interne à l'Ecole néoplatonicienne d'Alexandrie (VIe s.).

Pascal Mueller-Jourdan, DrHabil in Ancient Philosophy, University of Fribourg, is a Lecturer in Ancient Philosophy at the Catholic University of the West (Angers, France). He has published extensively on the Philosophy of Late Antiquity. His first study (VCS, Brill, 2005) deals with space and time in Maximus Confessor's Mystagogy. He has recently provided two articles for the Reallexicon für Antike und Christentum (RAC): Logik (2009) & Mystagogie (forthcoming, 2011).
Pascal Mueller-Jourdan, DrHabil en philosophie ancienne de l'Université de Fribourg, est Maître de conférences en philosophie ancienne à l'Université Catholique de l'Ouest (Angers, France). Il a publié de nombreuses études sur la philosophie tardo-antique. Sa première étude (VCS, Brill, 2005) portait sur l'espace et le temps dans la Mystagogie de Maxime le Confesseur. Il a collaboré récemment à deux notices du RAC: Logik (2009) & Mystagogie (à paraître en 2011).
